I’m Ahaana, an 11th grader at Ascend International School, and this is the story behind my personal project—one that started with a lens and grew into a mission.
I discovered my love for photography while exploring the wild terrains of India and Africa with my family. With the guidance of my mentor, Mrs. Hridgandha Mistry, I began to learn the technical skills behind the camera. But it was during a life-changing expedition to Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands—led by National Geographic experts—that I truly began to understand the power of visual storytelling.

Each week, I visit a few vendors, hear their stories, learn about their challenges, and understand what would help their small businesses thrive. These are not just stories—they are calls for action.
Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone
At first, the idea of walking up to strangers on the street and asking if I could take their photograph was intimidating. I was unsure how they’d respond. But something beautiful happened. Many of them were open, curious, and even eager to be seen—really seen. Some even posed happily, asking for candid shots, and most requested a copy of their photo.

What's Next?
I’M NOW USING MY PHOTOS AND THEIR STORIES TO RAISE AWARENESS—AND FUNDS—THROUGH CROWDFUNDING. THE GOAL IS SIMPLE: HELP THESE HARDWORKING INDIVIDUALS GET THE BASIC TOOLS AND MATERIALS THEY NEED TO SUPPORT THEMSELVES WITH DIGNITY.
